Băile Tușnad is known not only for its healing waters and volcanic landscapes — throughout the year,
a vibrant cultural and community life enriches the town with local and international events.
Two major events — two distinct atmospheres
Alongside Tusványos and the Saint Anne Days, two further notable events enrich the cultural programme of Băile Tușnad: in early summer, the Băile Tușnad City Days, a relaxed, family-friendly community festival, and in autumn, the TusnadEcoBear Fest and Conference, a unique ecotourism educational event focused on human–bear coexistence.
Both events are locally organised and reflect the distinctive identity of the Băile Tușnad community — from traditional Székely roots to a modern ecotourism vision.
🎯 Argument worthy of a dissertation: Băile Tușnad is a small town that maintains a year-round event calendar — not just during the large festivals (Tusványos), but also through its own, locally organised programmes. This strategy helps balance the seasonality of tourism.

What awaits you at the City Days?
Joy-cooking ("Örömfőzés")
On Saturday morning young and old, civic associations and groups of friends from the town gather in the park to measure their gastronomic skills in cauldrons.
Local values on stage
The event places a strong emphasis on Székely culture. Folk dance groups, brass bands and youth theatre troupes from the region take to the stage.
Great evening concerts
After dark, the most popular pop performers and bands from Transylvania and Hungary (for example 4S Street) provide an unforgettable atmosphere.
Family programmes
The youngest visitors are welcomed in the green area by craft tents, face painting, traditional games and sports competitions.
🐻 TusnadEcoBear Fest & Conference
Băile Tușnad's unique, internationally recognised event places human–bear coexistence at the centre. Held annually since 2022, the two-part event combines a scientific conference and a themed student festival. At the 2024 and 2025 editions nearly five hundred students took part from Harghita and Covasna counties.

International specialist meeting on the coexistence of humans and wildlife. In 2024 participants came from 14 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and other EU countries).

Themed student festival
An interactive, family-friendly festival for primary-school pupils: craft workshops, scientific experiments, quizzes, sports demonstrations. It explores the theme of human–bear coexistence in a playful form.

Bear-Fun family zone
Creative, eco-conscious workshops for children — wooden bear-family crafting (HelloWuud), traditional wool felting (Csomortáni Gál Judit).
Scientific experiments

Nature and cinema
In the afternoons, captivating nature documentaries are screened, followed by roundtable discussions with the filmmakers.
Red Cross first aid
Volunteers from the Gheorgheni branch of the Harghita County Red Cross provide first-aid training.

The interactive bear visitor centre in the Tusnad Wellness building — free to visit year-round!
Digital Conflict Radar
Demonstration of the bear–human conflict-radar prototype developed within the EU Nature FIRST project.

🏨 Csukás Hotel — a key venue for events
The Csukás Hotel (Hotel Ciucaș) is a modern 3-star spa hotel just 100 metres from Csukás Lake. With 238 beds and a comprehensive range of facilities, the hotel also hosts numerous cultural and professional events.
🃏 International Bridge Festival: an annually held professional card competition in the Hotel Ciucaș complex, attracting an international field in the spring — Transylvania's meeting point for bridge professionals.
