All of Transylvania in one day — in bite-size form

The Mini Transylvania Park (Hungarian: Mini Erdély Park; Romanian: Parcul Mini Transilvania) is Romania's only multicultural thematic model park, located at Băile Seiche (Szejke Spa), just outside Odorheiu Secuiesc. Conceived by the team behind the Székely Legendarium, the park displays exquisitely detailed scale models of Transylvania's most important historic buildings, castles and churches.

Visitors can admire more than 80 models — faithful copies of castles, manor houses, fortified churches and medieval towns. Winding between the models, the Mini Székely Steam Train, a garden miniature railway, is a delight for adults and children alike.

The park offers a full day of leisure: alongside the model park, visitors can enjoy the Insect Park, a playground, a café and a terrace. The complex also includes the Orbán Balázs Visitor Centre, which is free to enter.

Born from a realisation in Brussels

The park was conceived by the team of the Székely Legendarium — led by producer Fazakas Szabolcs, president of the Visus Cultural Association. The Székely Legendarium began as a civil initiative, aiming to collect the intangible cultural heritage of the Székely Land and pass it on to children in an engaging way.

The idea took shape during a stint working in Brussels: „More than ten years ago I worked for a while in the European Parliament in Brussels, and I realised that almost none of the MEPs had ever heard of the Székelys. They had no idea who we are, how long we have lived here, what we want. The open-air Mini-Europe park shows nothing of Transylvania at all" — recalls Fazakas Szabolcs.

The park grew out of more than 10 years of development work, transforming Băile Seiche — once the estate of the famous folklore collector Orbán Balázs — into a tourist destination worthy of the ethnographer's memory.

What can you see in the park?

A fascinating feature of the models is that some of them evoke the building's original heyday — details that have since been lost to time can be seen here in their full glory. The layout follows the original geographical positions: making use of the terrain, the garden becomes a true „bite-size map" of Transylvania.

Corvin Castle (Hunyadi)

One of Transylvania's most famous medieval castles — a finely detailed model in all its Gothic splendour.

Biertan Fortified Church

Seven-bastioned, surrounded by a triple defensive wall — a UNESCO World Heritage site in miniature.

Bran Castle

Known as „Dracula's Castle" — the 1377 fortress reproduced in miniature.

Peleș Castle

The Romanian royal summer residence at Sinaia — the most beautiful 19th-century castle in Transylvania.

Alba Iulia Cathedral

One of Transylvania's most significant sacred buildings, built on Árpád-era foundations.

Lázár Castle (Lăzarea)

The chief monument of the Székely Renaissance — a castle in Harghita County that can still be visited today.

Dârjiu Fortified Church

A UNESCO World Heritage site — a unique Székely monument surrounded by „bacon bastions".

Cluj Old Town

The model of medieval Cluj, ringed by its city walls — an entire town in a single piece!

Târgu Mureș Musical Fountain

A miniature reconstruction of the famous Art Nouveau musical fountain — the legacy of Bernády György.

Varjúvár (Crow Castle) by Kós Károly

The celebrated work by architect Károly Kós — Hungarian Art Nouveau in Transylvania.

Ada Kaleh Island

The Turkish settlement on a Danube island, which was submerged in the 1970s during the construction of the Iron Gates dam.

Kálnoky Castle, Micloșoara

An aristocratic residence in Covasna County, still owned by the family today.

And more than 70 further models — manors, fortified churches, manor-house interiors, peasant cottages. The park is continuously expanding, with new models added every year.

More than just models

Mini Székely Steam Train

Café and terrace

By the car park, a café and spacious terrace await guests — a comfortable break between strolls.

Free parking

Generous, free parking at the park entrance. From the car park, the entrance is just a short walk away.

Why does this park matter?

The Mini Transylvania Park is more than a tourist attraction — it is a place that builds identity. In an age when many tend to forget their roots, this place reminds us how rich and colourful Transylvania's shared heritage truly is.

In the words of Fazakas Szabolcs: „Transylvania's built heritage is not merely an alloy of stone and mortar, but the imprint of our shared memory, which here in this park we strive to preserve for future generations — showing, in bite-size form, things that are truly grand."

The park illustrates the intertwining of different peoples' cultures: Saxon fortified churches, Hungarian castles, Romanian Orthodox churches, Armenian and Jewish buildings — all of them imprints of a multicultural Transylvania. Trilingual signage (Hungarian, Romanian, English) makes the history accessible to every visitor.
