Before you set off
Check the webcam! Snow conditions change from day to day. All three slopes have webcams (FreeCam.ro, Visit Harghita) — well worth checking actual conditions before setting out.
Cash may be required! At several slopes (especially Bucin) only cash payment is accepted. Bring enough RON for the pass, rental and food.
Season: mid-December to late March. Shorter at Izvoru Mureșului (natural snow only); longer at Bucin and Floarea Roșie thanks to snow cannons.
Family beginner tip: if you're skiing for the first time with children, the floodlit lower section at Floarea Roșie or the magic carpet at Bucin are the friendliest options. Izvoru Mureșului is better suited to more advanced skiers.
